Unique Approach to Learning

We at TGOI:

·   believe that students are always in "school" and are always learning, whether it be in a classroom, on the playground, or in their homes; whether they are with their friends, their families, or a “teacher”.

·   strive to enhance students’ learning experiences in their classrooms by attending wholeheartedly to both the student and the development of his/her capacity to learn.

·   teach students to be inquisitive, to look, listen, and touch their world, and to question it, critique it, and dig deeper for a clearer understanding of it.

·   teach students that the world is their classroom, that they themselves can help to guide their own learning, and to create the blueprint of their educational histories.

History of Academic Achievement

TGOI was founded in 1994 by Dr. Oluwakemi M Linda Banks, Clinical Psychologist and educator and is named after Dr. Banks' sister, Gloria Cassandra Banks-Harrigan, a model teacher, who epitomized the characteristics of TGOI.  Teacher Gloria's sunset was the result of a tragic accident in 1987.

Indeed, since the inception of TGOI, its children have been shining lights within the secondary public school system in Anguilla and have consistently been singled out in this sector as well behaved, well balanced young people who have excelled academically.

The success that TGOI has enjoyed in implementing its philosophy is exemplified by the commendation received in 2001 from UNESCO and the International Bureau of Education: that, "TGOI was a model for UNESCO’s vision of education for the 21st century."
