Reach for the Summit
Culture

Vision

A global village of unparalleled excellence where students, teachers, parents and friends delightfully embrace one another in the pursuit of personal fulfillment, fuelled by a wondrous appreciation of self, by which they are empowered to triumph over life’s challenges, exceed their highest aspirations and reach for their summits.  Members of the village respect the dignity and worth of one another and explore the beauty of diversity as they live together harmoniously in their village, from which they emerge, as model citizens of the universe.

Mission

OMOLOLU means “Children of God”.  The theoretical underpinnings of the school’s philosophy are that each individual must be intrinsically motivated to succeed.  TGOI attempts, by its philosophy and training of its staff, to create an atmosphere which enables its children to feel accepted and approved.  The inherent value, worth and dignity of every human being is emphasized and behaviours rather than individuals are labelled.

Our children are nurtured as miracles of God’s creation and supreme gifts to mankind.  They are constantly reminded, by word and action, that each one is special and unique.  Children are also encouraged to mentor one other informally and through a program of volunteer peer helpers.

The educational program of TGOI fosters holistic development on several different levels – moral, spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, and psychosocial.  This should prepare children, fuelled by a positive sense of self, to face the challenges ahead with confidence in their ability to succeed.

School Culture

At TGOI we empower students to take risks and learn from their mistakes in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.  Our children learn how to empathize, resolve conflicts, get along and care for one another through strategies from the philosophical underpinnings of the Caribbean Sub-Region's Curriculum Development for Learning Together.

TGOI has also adopted values from "Nguzo" (The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa).  Our goal is for 100% of TGOI students to leave school with a practical understanding of these principles, a life-long love for learning, and the confidence to compete and achieve in today's demanding job industry.
